Hydrating Body butter Upgrade: Cocoa powder & vanilla – skin power house

ene naturals hydrating body butter with cocoa powder and vanilla oil

At Ene Naturals, we are constantly improving our products by improving on our recipes, rebranding and repackaging. We have been busy over the past few months doing all of these. Even though our recipes are improved and rebranding carried out, our commitment to purity remains the same. So we are please to launch our improved hydrating body butter which now contains pure cocoa powder and all natural vanilla oil.

Our hydrating body butter is made from natural butters like mango and Shea butter, cocoa butter as well as coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil and sunflower oil. One would expect our body butter to be greasy but it is not at all. This is because we have added an all important ingredient – water! With water, the body butter is very smooth, light-weight and hydrating keeping your skin hydrated all day long without causing your skin to grease. Water purifies the skin as well which is why we have incorporated it.

And now, we have included pure African cocoa powder and vanilla oil in our body butter because cocoa powder is very beneficial to the skin. For a start, cocoa powder is very rich in anti-oxidants, minerals and vitamins. It is rich in anti-oxidant flavanoid which helps to repair damaged skin cause by exposure to UV rays and environmental toxins. As such, cocoa powder protects your skin from damage caused by the environment. This is one of the many benefits, which others include fighting wrinkles and signs of aging as well as giving your skin a beautiful, healthy, glowing skin. And this happens because cocoa powder helps blood circulation to skin and is very rich in vitamin E and collagen which all combine to keep your skin youthful and protected.

Vanilla oil on the other hand is an anti- inflammatory and anti-bacteria that protects your skin and helps fight infections and soothe irritated skin. As such, it is good for sensitive skin. It is also rich in anti-oxidants that protect the skin from free radicals and is rich in B vitamins that gives you healthy skin. With these benefits of vanilla oil and cocoa powder on the skin, we were too pleased to have them incorporated in our hydrating body butter.

How to make Nappy Rash Gel

Watch full video on YouTube handle: Ene Naturals – Nappy rash gel video

Nappy rash is very common in babies and little kids. It is usually caused by dampness or moisture on a child’s skin caused by wet diapers which when in contact with the skin, can cause irritation which is the nappy rash. This is why it is recommended that diapers are changed regularly and not left to be too dense before being changed.

From experience, allergy can also cause rash. For example, both my sons were sensitive to perfumed products like perfumed wipes, diapers or even perfumed powders or soaps and lotions. This is why I switched to natural products for my kids. Using fragrance – free products will limit nappy rash and common rash in babies and kids.

Rash can also be caused by drug reactions so do read drug interactions and side effects before giving such drugs to your kids especially antibiotic. Since rash can be harmless but irritant, you might have to wait till the dosage is exhausted before considering treatment.

While many topical products are out there in beauty stores, I have always relied on fresh aloe Vera gels and even vitamin C tablet to treat rash. This time around, I made a rash gel without the aloe Vera plant for people who do not have access to the plants.

The recipe for this DIY nappy rash cream is:

The aloe Vera gel on its own is perfect but since I am using the packaged one, I added glycerin because it helps to sooth the skin and with the aloe Vera gel, it becomes a double dose of coolant as well as moisturizes the skin and help to soften the skin. Natural aloe Vera has vitamin C and in its absence, I added vitamin C tablet which helps to clear the skin as well. Lavender oil is soothing and calming as well and helps to make the skin condition less irritable. It also has a soft, pleasant fragrance which makes this gel even more appealing.

To make the nappy rash gel is a rather simple process.

And viola, this is what you get:

Give this a try and tell me what you think.

Cheers,

How to make hydrating Body Butter

https://youtu.be/OfpWEqzhgg4

There are so many body butter recipes out there and it is so easy to make that it is the first thing most natural skin care enthusiasts learn to make. Body butters usually contain heavy natural butters like Shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter and natural oils as well. The healing power of body butters can not be underestimated because they are able to treat stretch marks, certain fibrosis, sunburn, spider veins, dry, flaky skin, to mention but a few. So body butters are great if you suffer from any of these or need intense moisture for your skin

But… yes, there is one 😀

Body butters contain high amount of natural oils, which though do not clog your pores but cause those of us who live in Africa to sweat a lot! From experience as a natural skin care crafter, I have had people complain all the time about body butters making them sweat a lot due to the African heat. If you have been to African – and I live in a very hot, tropical Nigeria where the sun shines all year round! My, you would give body butters a second thought as well. Secondly, we Africans predominantly have thick, oily skin hence when we use some body butters, we feel as though we’ve got grease on our skin.

So this was the reason why I formulated my own body butter. My recipe has one unique ingredient- water! With the addition of water, less amount of butters and oil and of course, with beeswax completely eliminated, what you get is a thick, creamy but light body butter that hydrates your skin and keeps you from sweating.

So if you live in Africa but still want to enjoy using body butters, then watch this video and start making your own body butter.

Am happy to hear from you and respond to your questions. So pls leave a comment below.

Cheers!

Secrets of Natural skin care

I have been making natural skin care products for almost six years now so I can testify to the goodness of natural products for our skin, hair and general well being. When I use natural skin care products for myself and family, I do feel very good about myself because I know that I am keeping toxins which are common in cosmetic products away.

One of the known gains of using natural products is their safety to our skin and the environment at large. Natural products are made from organically grown plants and produce that do not pollute the earth as their systems of farming contain less toxins and are earth-friendly. So if you are looking for a way to contribute to protecting the earth and the environment, then patronize organic skincare products. You will feel good about yourself.

Second benefits of natural skin care products is that they protect your skin and body from toxins found in chemicals used for cosmetic products. Natural skin care products are chemical free, preservatives free and are free of artificial colors and other by-products so using natural products will be doing your body and health a whole lot of good. We are at an age where strange diseases and all sorts of cancer is on the increase, many of which have been linked to toxins found in cosmetic products. We must protect our skin and bodies; and going natural is the first step in the right direction.

Thirdly, natural skin care products contain a whole lot of goodness and nourishment for our skin and body which I will like to highlight below:

Anti-oxidants (Natural protectors):

Antioxidants protect our skin cells from damage and are responsible for skin cell regeneration and repair. Natural oils and produce are rich sources of antioxidants which help to repair and restore our skin.

Anti-inflammatory:

Natural oils and other natural skin care ingredients have high anti-inflammatory properties as such have healing powers to heal our skin of damages like fibrosis, spider veins, stretch marks, swelling, sunburn and a whole lot. Natural skin care products have the ability to heal the skin even faster than any store bought cosmetic products loaded with chemicals.

Collagen boosters:

Natural skin care ingredients are loaded with properties that boost collagen in our skin. Collagen is the main structural protein found in our skin and body and vitamin C plays a significant role in the formation of collagen. Natural skin care ingredients are loaded with vitamin C that boosts collagen, which gives the skin elasticity and helps fight signs of aging.

Anti-aging benefits

Natural skin care ingredients are loaded with vitamins and minerals including being natural sources of Vitamins A & E. When you use natural skin care products, you do not need to use synthetic vitamins A or E or collagen because they are so full of nourishment that they fight wrinkles, reverse the signs of aging and makes the skin youthful for longer. Elasticity is what the skin needs to stay youthful and this is what natural skin care products give.

Free radicals eliminators

Natural skin care ingredients eliminate free radicals because of their rich source of Vitamin C and Alpha hydroxy acids which help to strip the skin of dead skin cells. Take pure goat milk for example, it is so high in AHA and is why it is used for natural skin brightening as it strips the skin of dead cells for a clearer complexion. Citrus based essential oils like orange, lemon, grapefruit are also rich sources of vitamin C and is the reason why they are used in treating acne and pimples.

Natural Moisturizers:

Natural skincare products have the ability to lock in moisture and keep our skin hydrated for longer. So whether we choose to use natural oils or to use natural sources of milk, our skin will receive intense moisture which means beautiful soft and shiny skin as against dry, flaky skin.

Natural skin brightening:

Natural ingredients like goat milk, lemon oil, orange oil, Jasmine oil, coconut oil and a whole host of others naturally clear our skin of uneven skin tone by stripping the skin of dead cells. With clearer complexion means a more even skin tone and brighter complexion.

Since I started using natural skin care products, I spend less time and money on makeup now because I no longer have to battle free radicals or be ashamed to go out bare faced. I love my natural skin so much that I hardly wear makeup. And I believe that this is important because many people spend more time and money on makeup than on their skin. Embrace nature, embrace your skin and you will have only yourself to thank.

Dark spots and sunburn treatment with oils: Spotlight on Ene Naturals dark spots removal oil

Contrary to belief, harsh skin bleaching products in tubes or other forms do not necessarily clear dark spots like age spots, sunburn or dark spots caused by injury or scars; or even dark spots caused by skin that has been burnt by bleaching products. What these whitening or lightening or bleaching products do is to amplify the damaged areas because while they lighten the rest of the skin that is not covered by dark spots, they are unable to clear the spots but make them even more pronounced.

But why is this happening? This happens because most of these whitening or bleaching agents actually do not go deep within our skin and under our skin to heal the skin from inside out. It is a fact that for long lasting results and for healing to occur, the skin must be healed from the inside out.

This is where oils are different. And how you ask? Because oils are rich in so much nutrients, vitamins and minerals, they are rich in anti-oxidants and Collagen, which helps cell regeneration. Meaning, the oils help the skin to create new cells by getting rid of the old one so that new ones can appear. During the cell regeneration process, you will find the dark, dry outer layers of the dark spots peeling away to reveal newer ones which are brighter and same color as our natural skin. This is why natural oils are superior to skin whitening or bleaching products when it comes to clearing sunburn or dark spots.

I recently developed a blend of natural, healing oils that treat dark spots, sunburns and damaged skin. In this blend amongst a wide collection of oils, you will find carrot seed oil, frankincense oil, rose oil, Jasmine oil, orange oil, lemon oil, coconut oil, castor oil and more. These natural oils not only clear the skin but will give one a brighter, natural complexion.

Nature takes its time, I must say because this is not a quick fix but when we allow the oils to complete its cycle of healing which is cell regeneration, you will be happy you waited.

The Ene Naturals Dark Spots removal oil is now available at our store on this site. Give nature a chance and you will never regret it.

Cheers!

Whats your skin care goals for 2018?

So, at the start of every new year, we usually come up with resolutions, goals and expectations for the year that includes our finances, our health, fitness; but probably not much on our skin care.

Our skin is the visual representation of how we feel on the inside. This is why we look radiant when we are happy or at peace while our skin looks saggy when we are under stress or undergoing difficulties. Our skin is a mirror to our inside and to some extent, determines how we are seen and can affect the perception that people have of us. So, in a nutshell, our skin is our image – simple as that.

our skin is an important organ of our body that it makes me wonder why we would rather invest in makeup products than we would on skin care products. Makeup products are actually secondary to skin care products. Heavy makeup and over dependence on makeup is so last year, so lets make healthy habits and set healthy goals for our skin in 2018.

GOAL 1:

MAKEUP DETOX

Less makeup or no makeup at all means that you are giving your skin a breather! Take time to free your skin of makeup so it can breathe. Keep in mind that makeup clogs the pores of the skin, which in turn causes free radicals like acne, pimples and rash. So keep your skin fresh every once in a while.

GOAL 2:

CREATE A BEAUTY REGIME

Many people buy the wrong skin care products for their skin, which may even create additional problems. Sometimes too, people buy the wrong product for the wrong skin issue. So, before you buy any thing, make sure it is targeted and suited to your need and skin type. You should also create a beauty regime that is feasible and easy for you to implement. Rubbing lotion alone on the skin won’t do; you must exfoliate, tone, steam, mask and moisturize.

GOAL 3:

KEEP YOUR SKIN HYDRATED

Did you know that alcohol, smoking and stress, including inadequate sleep can dehydrate your skin? If you spent last year paying little attention to rest time, then this year should be different. Plus, drink lots of pure, natural water rather than carbonated drinks or alcohol; eat fruits and vegetables and do keep your skin moisturized with the right kind of moisturizer for your skin type.

GOAL 4: (FOR WOMEN OF COLOR): DWELL LESS ON SKIN LIGHTENING (BLEACHING) BUT MORE ON HEALTHY, YOUTHFUL SKIN

More women of color are obsessed with skin lightening or skin bleaching rather than focusing on nourishing their skin with moisturizers that keep the skin healthy and young. Skin bleaching adds years to your actual age so try to stay away from them as they contain harmful chemicals; and focus rather on keeping your skin healthy and youthful for longer. Keep in mind that skin bleaching causes the skin to lose elasticity, so this is why people who bleach tend to have wrinkles.

GOAL 5: EAT HEALTHY

Healthy foods provide nourishment for the skin so tame down on junk, processed foods and go for healthy, natural foods. Consuming healthy foods will give your skin health, radiance and youthfulness. These foods are great for the skin:

Fatty fishes: Benefit from their abundance of omega 3 fatty acids which are good for healthy skin, shine and suppleness. Fatty fishes also contain vitamin E, which is a vital anti-oxidant for your skin and protects your skin from damage.

Avocado: Just like fatty fishes, avocados contain vitamin E and Vitamin C, which is another anti-oxidant that prevents free radicals and helps your skin to produce collagen needed for skin repair and rejuvenation.

Nuts: Nuts like walnut contain omega -3 and omega -6 fatty acids that help combat inflammation and heal damaged skin.

Fruits and vegetables: broccoli, tomatoes, red or yellow bell peppers are rich in vitamins and minerals and are rich sources of anti-oxidants, all of which are needed for healthy skin.

Dark chocolate: Studies have shown the effects of consuming dark chocolate to be very good for the skin because dark chocolate contains anti-oxidants which protects your skin from sunburn as well as help to hydrate the skin, to improve the texture of the skin and help to fight wrinkles.

6. GIVE YOURSELF A SPA TREAT

Let no one kid you by saying that you do not need spa treatment because you do! While you can save money by creating your own d-i-y spa treatment at home, every once in a while, please go to a spa and let professionals take care of your skin as it should be. From facials, to pedicures, to massages, enjoy a wide range of treatments for your entire body. Go to a spa near you and go through their menu and select diverse treatments that you can enjoy all through 2018 as treats. You can choose to give yourself a spa treat once a month or once in two months. You will feel great about yourself and your skin will thank you.

If you live in Lagos, Nigeria, I personally recommend Victoria’s Touch Spa. Visit the Instagram page at Victoriastouchspa.

These are some of the skin care goals that you can set for yourself in 2018. Tell me, are your skin care goals similar to this? Please share your 2018 skin care goals with us by leaving a comment.

Cheers!
